Diamond Specialist Certification Course
Will I be assigned an instructor for the course?
The course follows a self-study model, meaning all materials are available online, and students progress independently according to the syllabus. This flexible approach allows learners to study at their own pace, ensuring they can complete each exam in their certification journey with confidence.
Won’t the self-study model be difficult if I’m a beginner?
Beginners can follow the structured syllabus for guidance, although you’re free to study the material in any order that suits you.
What is required to pass?
To earn the GemXplore Diamond Specialist Certificate, you must:
- Pass a 100-question written exam with a score of 87% or better. You can retake the exam as many times as needed to pass.
- Complete a practical exam, which involves identifying 5 gemstones (natural, enhanced, synthetic, and assembled). A 100% score is required for the practical exam.
How are the tests administered?
All exams are conducted through online test-taking software via your GemXplore account.
Can I see a sample of the test questions?
Yes, we provide sample gemology questions from our certification exam. These cover topics such as gemstone formation, optical properties, grading, and more.
How long should it take me to complete the course?
Completion times vary based on the student’s experience, interest, and commitment. Some finish within weeks, while others may take up to two years.
Can I get a refund if I am not satisfied?
You can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, provided the gem kit hasn’t been shipped.
How does the GemXplore course compare with those offered by GIA?
While GIA’s Graduate Gemologist (GG) degree is the most respected credential in the gem industry, GemXplore offers a more affordable and flexible alternative. Our courses are ideal for gemologists, hobbyists, and professionals who want to learn more without the time and financial commitment of a GG degree.
Do you accept students worldwide?
Yes, with a few exceptions due to shipping restrictions. We cannot accept students from certain countries, but learners in those regions can still take our Mini Courses, which don’t require shipping a gem kit.
